After three years of work the ISO/IEC 19770-2 standard has been published by ISO.
I think this is a great initiative and the team behind the ISO standard have done some great work.
It is now all about the execution

ISO Working Group Recognises Contributors to SAM Standards at IAITAM 09

Part Two of ISO/IEC 19770-2 Available in Draft for Review
Part two of the International Standard ISO/IEC 19770 is available in draft format for review prior to final editorial changes. Part two of the International Standard refers to Software Identification Tagging enabling more accurate identification of software applications.
The draft is being made available by IAITAM – the International Association of Information Technology Asset Managers.
